Monday Devotional

What are you focusing on today? Is it that unexpected bill that came in last week? Is it the unsettled argument you had with that family member? Is it Monday? I am convinced that most of our experiences are determined by one thing - us!! Our perspective - how we choose to see things. Proverbs 11:27 says, “If you search for good, you will find favor; but if you search for evil, it will find you!” Notice, the determining factor here is what I am looking for. If I live my life looking for good - counting every blessing that God has already given me - not only will I find it, but it will ultimately lead to me gaining favor. In contrast, if I live my life looking for the negative - in my job, in my relationships, in myself - not only will I find it, but I won’t have to look long because it will come and find me!! The key is what I am choosing to focus on. So, let me ask you again, what are you focusing on today? Instead of broken relationships - let it be on the restored relationship we have with God through Jesus (1 John 3:1). Instead of a job that at times seems unfulfilling, let it be in the eternal purpose we were created for (Eph 2:10). Instead of regret for yesterday, let it be the new life we have through Jesus Christ (2 Cor 5:17). Let the praises of the Most High be our song today! (Psalm 106:1-2)
